Heinrich Zille-inspired silkscreen prints

Portfolio with five silkscreen prints - works by Heinrich Zille, adapted by Barbara Yelin, Henning Wagenbreth, Mawil, Jim Avignon and Jakob Hinrichs.

The great-grandfather of Berlin illustration, Heinrich Zille is known for his caricatures of the city’s locals, with a particular focus on sex-workers, labourers and working-class families. His illustrations explored the private and public spaces of downtrodden late 19th century Berlin. From speakeasies to grocers' shops, dance halls, brothels, living rooms and street scenes, his illustrations documented a reality of Berlin life with humour and spirit.
